“Fragmentation, specialization and sameness will be replaced by wholeness, diversity and, above all, a deep involvement. […] Tomorrow’s educator will be able to set about the exciting task of creating a new kind of learning environment.” Marshall McLuhan

Education concerns the future, it forms people who are going to become the pivots of the society. Today in many countries education is threatened and impoverished by the resources’ reduction, which are destined to other goals. Knowledge is at the heart of the education effort, in the arts and other fields, and it is changing because of the new technological tools and because the Institutions, the society, the people… are changing. How can the new media and technologies influence the way we know and learn? How do they affect our visions? How can education and learning cope with this quick transformation?

The Always Already New symposium continues in reflecting about this topics and the arts, this year in the background of the 100th anniversary of Marshall McLuhan’s birth, the great Canadian educator, literary critic, scholar and media theorist. His considerations on education will be part of our work.
